Vermont’s descent into a state of turmoil is a glaring manifestation of the failures of its far-left Legislature and leaders, especially in cities like Burlington. This crisis has led to the transformation of once-vibrant communities such as Brattleboro, Rutland, Bennington and Barre into marginalized zones, where the neglected bear the brunt of the state’s neglect.

The health care system, burdened by the flawed OneCare system and excessively long waiting times for specialist care, highlights the state’s inability to provide adequate health services to its citizens. This situation has been compounded by the lack of effective public safety measures, with rising crime rates necessitating a more robust approach to law enforcement.ย

Gov. Phil Scott’s role is pivotal in driving change. He must exert pressure on the Legislature and consider employing armed private security groups to enhance policing in high-crime areas. Additionally, the formation of specialized in-city gang units or tactical teams, capable of executing constant search warrants and arrests, is crucial for tackling the state’s escalating crime rates.

A radical shift in law enforcement training is also essential. Vermont needs to move away from traditional, military-style indoctrination and instead focus on real-world scenarios, offering flexibility and a broader range of specialties in training programs. This modernization will attract diverse candidates, enhancing the capabilities and effectiveness of law enforcement in addressing the state’s unique challenges.

Economically, Vermont needs to stimulate growth in marginalized zones. Substantial cuts in business and sales taxes, particularly in border towns, will encourage economic development and job creation, bridging the gap between these areas and the more affluent parts of the state.

The stark contrast in living conditions between the far-left elite and the marginalized communities they have overlooked is a testament to their detachment from the realities of their policies. Vermont’s leadership owes its citizens a profound apology and a commitment to radical changes in governance.

The state stands at a critical juncture, requiring decisive action and practical solutions. Only through a comprehensive overhaul of its governance, focusing on public safety, economic stability, and the welfare of all communities, can Vermont recover from the damages of years of neglect and mismanagement.

The time for superficial measures is over. Vermont needs a leadership committed to serving all its citizens, fostering an environment of safety, prosperity and equality.
