In my professional circle, and hearing about a nationwide decline in men and women applying for jobs for the past three years, and knowing that police forces in every state are not getting new enrollees to join the “force” due to actions such as this: A man or woman upholding the law must adhere to certain standards and represent their community and position at almost every step. I agree to this.
But these men and women, because of this movement to restrict, ban, judge, prosecute law enforcement personnel for any minor what they see as a problem or an infraction has made members of any enforcement organization “persona non-grata.”
If you are constantly afraid of being sued, interred, prosecuted, losing a civil lawsuit, being ostracized and more, why join any police force that exposes you or your family to persecution of any kind?
These officers, out of uniform, in the privacy of their own homes, must have the same freedoms anyone has, and freedom of speech is a First Amendment right guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.
This situation is very disturbing and very unfortunate and these officers should seek retribution for this action.
