Judy Tarr Tartaglia, the president and chief executive officer of the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, is retiring on March 31.
Tartaglia has managed the hospital since 2007 and led an effort to make the hospital a subsidiary of the University of Vermont Health Network, formerly Fletcher Allen Partners.
Tartaglia will be the fourth of Vermont’s 14 hospital CEOs to leave her post over the course of a single year. The others were Lynn Boggs at Porter Medical Center, Melvyn Pataschnick at Copley Hospital, and Joe Woodin at Gifford Medical Center.
“While there is never a perfect time to retire, now seems the right time for my family and for our organization,” Tartaglia said in a press release announcing her retirement. She told her staff she adores them and will miss them dearly.
“We are incredibly fortunate to be part of The University of Vermont Health Network – an organization that is leading the charge in health care reform and is at the forefront of health care quality in the nation,” Tartaglia said.
“It’s an inspiring time for our growing network and the changing health care environment in the state and country,” she said. “CVMC is well-positioned to not only survive, but thrive in the future.”
CVMC is expected to take in $191.8 million in revenue from patient care in the current fiscal year. The hospital received 4.7 percent more revenue than budgeted in fiscal year 2015 and was projected to book 8.2 percent more revenue than budgeted in fiscal year 2016.
Dr. John Brumsted, president and CEO of the UVM Health Network, said Tartaglia was “instrumental in helping to ensure outstanding care is available in central Vermont,” and “providing coordinated care for communities across Vermont.”
