[G]ov. Peter Shumlin signed into law 117 bills the Legislature passed this year. They addressed a broad range of subjects, including the storage of prescription drugs outside the original container, the use of body cameras by law enforcement, and the rights of foster parents.

Under the Vermont Constitution, a governor has five days to act upon a bill after it is presented, or else the legislation automatically becomes law. During the 2015-2016 biennium, no bills have been enacted without Shumlin’s signature.

Shumlin vetoed two pieces of legislation this year: S.230, the energy siting bill, and H.518, which would have expanded the board of Vermont’s Clean Water Fund. He later approved a new version of the energy siting bill, S.260, that corrected noise limits for wind turbines and added $300,000 in training money for municipal and regional planning for the siting of renewable energy projects.

The bills Shumlin has signed are listed below. More information about the legislation is available on VTDigger’s bill tracker page.
