The state will hold a public meeting next month to take comments on a study of issues surrounding the legalization of marijuana in Vermont.

The meeting will run from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Nov. 12 and will be carried statewide at Vermont Interactive Technologies centers.

The meeting is planned in conjunction with a study authorized by the Legislature last session. A representative of the RAND Drug Policy Research Center, which was retained to perform the study, will join Secretary of Administration Jeb Spaulding at the event.

Beau Kilmer, co-director of the research center, will make a presentation and then field questions and comments, a news release said.

There are VIT centers in Bennington, Brattleboro, Middlebury, Montpelier, Newport, Randolph Center, Springfield, St. Albans and Williston, the release said.

The study is to be presented to lawmakers by Jan. 15.
