Voters who want to make history with a victory by the Democratic nominee could be outnumbered by those who want a governor who knows how to do the job.
Democratic gubernatorial primary winner Christine Hallquist garnered over 40 percent of the vote. Challengers James Ehlers and Brenda Siegel followed with about 18 percent each, and Ethan Sonneborn had about 7 percent.
After rather unremarkable campaigns, Democrats delivered a decisive win for Christine Hallquist and Republicans made Phil Scott look vulnerable.
The Windsor County town, whose gubernatorial ballot totals have matched statewide results in 21 of the last 22 general elections, drew primary voters seeking political harmony.
The governor, an ardent backer of the fighter jets scheduled to arrive next year, traveled on a military aircraft to meet with the Air Force secretary.
