The underlying message to be drawn from this cancellation of a public academic event is that the UVM administration and the Vermont Department of Public Safety are not competent to protect the right to speak freely and engage in legitimate intellectual and political discourse on the UVM campus.
Shame, shame, shame — UVM students and the citizens of Vermont deserve better.
