As of Wednesday morning, Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin had reopened all of its primary and specialty care clinics, the Express Care walk-in clinic, and the dialysis unit.
The hospitalโs primary care clinic in Montpelier and its orthopedic clinic in Waterbury remain closed but are expected to reopen by Thursday, according to Neal Goswami, the hospitalโs spokesperson.
Though floodwaters didnโt reach the clinics, they disrupted travel for staff and patients alike earlier in the week, he said.
The hospital kept its emergency department open throughout the severe weather, and housed individuals who lacked shelter and people who were reliant on oxygen, according to a Wednesday afternoon press release from the medical center, which is part of the University of Vermont Health Network.
With many pharmacies closed, particularly in flooded-out downtown Montpelier, the hospitalโs pharmacy was able to provide medications to people who โcouldn’t access medications because of flooding or simply needed refills and couldn’t get them,โ Goswami said.
Clinics also provided telemedicine services to community members during the temporary closure, he said.
