The state has found that keeping wake boats 500 feet from shore makes their impacts at the shoreline acceptable. That means that if a wake boat is 1,000 feet from shore, double the distance proposed by the state, there is only 500 feet of water remaining for the safe, enjoyable use for sailing, fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, etc.ย

The numbers of us who enjoy these uses absolutely overwhelm the numbers of wake boat owners, and yet the state is giving them control of most of our surface water.

Stand up, be heard; donโ€™t let our lakes be destroyed. Submit comments soon to the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation. Simply ban them on all but our largest lakes.
