Enough. I feel compelled to respond to Mr. Covey, Navarro, and now Ms. Furfey.
I have read your collective opinions on pro-trapping. All slanted to defend the indefensible. Nowhere in your collective commentary is there a mention of the horrendous cruelty inflicted on intended or unintended wildlife.
There are plenty of ways to collect data without trapping, and you all know this. And now comes Furfey (from out of state) to tell us that the sky will fall unless trapping is allowed to continue.
Just to edify Ms. Furfey, trapping is currently outsourced by Fish & Wildlife. “Regulated trapping” is a phrase that F+W tries to use in order to enable continued trapping. 300 or so individuals taking 9,000 animals out of our forests is just not sustainable.
I have no problem with F+W using trapping to collect data that helps wildlife. But trapping for “fun” and entertainment, to me, is mental illness. If one thinks it is fun and cool to torment animals to death, that person has mental health challenges.
Ban trapping for the general public. Your own survey, F+W, said so.
