The Vermont Department of Health reported six new deaths from Covid-19 this weekend

In total, 30 people have died so far in September, making it the fourth-deadliest month in the pandemic, behind December 2020 (71 deaths), April 2020 (35) and January 2021 (34).

The state also reported 230 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, 191 on Sunday and 197 on Monday. The latter represents a slight downtick from the seven-day average above 200, but remains elevated, as the state has struggled with the Delta variant surge since August. The state reported averages of five to 10 cases per day in July.

The most severe complications from Covid continue. Thirty-six people were in the hospital with Covid as of Sunday, including seven in intensive care units. The state had not updated its hospitalization data as of Monday afternoon.
