Your bemoaning of the fact that President Trump (might) win the free and fair election in 2020 in your VTDigger column (Oct. 25, “The morning after — what will it be like after this presidential election?”) is all well and good for the one-sided, partisan, biased “newspapers” (I utilize that word loosely) within the state of Vermont.

However, what you and the owners of these papers again seem to forget is that, even within this very “liberal” state, nearly one-third of Vermont constituents voted for this president. So as you lament, and you groan, and you bitterly complain about the results of this democratic election, you are offending a good percentage of citizens who do not feel any of the remorse or seeming hatred you do about Donald Trump.

Vermont “journalists” remain so convinced that everyone must believe the exact same ideologies as they do that their slanted writings are insulting and mere further fodder for the reality that freedom of the press is dead. And when freedom of the press is dead, so is your democracy. After all, is it mere coincidence that left-leaning online publications such as VTDigger, SevenDays, Yahoo, etc., have all discontinued their once open formats for comments? What they have indeed done, of course, is completely censor the public from their freedom of speech within a format that once allowed such, and very effectively silence those with disparate opinions — many of whom used to comment very frequently on these sites.

I realize your particular column was an opinion piece, yet where in VTDigger is a column by one of the voters who was happy or at least relieved four years ago that November? Nowhere. And the fervent hope of the left is that most people remain sheeple and simply “follow the leader” in the philosophical sense as well as the genuine sense of that phraseology.

I will never.
