Vermonters are voting early this year because of Covid, and at VTDigger we want to make sure you have all the tools you need to make early informed decisions.

Most Vermonters will cast ballots by mail this year, and the Secretary of State’s office is recommending that voters get those ballots in the mail by Oct. 24.

That means you need more information — right now. You can get it all right here.

In our easy to use, comprehensive guide, VTDigger has pulled together everything you need to know, including how to navigate the voting system this year.

We have bios of more than 200 House, Senate and statewide candidates, information about where their money comes from in a campaign finance database, and how incumbents have voted on issues like paid leave and minimum wage.

The guide also includes a survey based on questions from readers. We asked House and Senate candidates whether they support a mask mandate and whether K-12 students should go back to school. We wanted to know how they would make the state a more attractive and affordable place to live.

We also asked what steps they believe should be taken to prevent more Covid outbreaks, and whether they believe systemic racism, criminal justice and police reforms are issues the state should address.

Statewide candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, treasurer, secretary of state, auditor and attorney general have answered a specific list of questions, tailored to the constitutional office they hold.
