Emma Mulvaney-Stanak has knocked out four-term incumbent Jean O’Sullivan for the Democratic nomination for the Chittenden 6-2 district in Burlington.

Mulvaney-Stanak is a former Burlington city councilor and former chair of the Vermont Progressive Party.

She said the margin of her win — 58% to O’Sullivan’s 42% — was unbelievable, but she’s glad her campaign resonated with the residents in Chittenden 6-2.

“I’m really excited and I think I’m really grateful for Jean’s eight years of service,” Mulvaney-Stanak said. “Because anyone who’s ever been elected before will tell you it’s a lot of hard work and I appreciate what she brought for the district.”

“And I think people want a new or new perspective, a new approach,” she added. “And I hope that I can do right by all of the voters both in the Old and New North ends.”
