[A] Vermont State Police sergeant suspended with pay is due in court next month to face a stalking charge.
Vermont State Police said in a release that Sgt. Raymond LeBlanc, 49, of Barre Town, is set to appear in Washington County criminal court Jan. 3 for an arraignment on the misdemeanor stalking charge.
According to the state police statement, during the week of Dec. 10 Vermont State Police became aware of a temporary restraining order sought by a female relative issued against LeBlanc.
State police detectives investigated the conduct described in the temporary restraining order and determined that LeBlanc had “committed the act of stalking involving the female relative, from roughly May through September.”
LeBlanc was taken into custody late Friday night and released on a citation for the Jan. 3 court date, police said.
Under terms of the collective bargaining agreement with the Vermont Troopers’ Association, according to the statement, LeBlanc has been suspended with pay.
LeBlanc is a sergeant and patrol commander with the Vermont State Police assigned to the Middlesex barracks.
A working phone number for LeBlanc could not immediately be located.
No other information regarding his arrest was immediately available.
