VTDigger makes a point to partner with Vermontโ€™s creative and business community as much as possible — including holding public conversations on important issues, like the state of the economy or our recent event on cleanup of Lake Champlain that was hosted by the Flynn Center.

These public conversations, based in the news we report every day, are a vital part of our mission and they are supported by you — our readers.ย VTDigger relies on readers and underwriters to keep our reporters on the beat and telling the stories that you need to read. Please give today.

Michael Metz

Michael Metz of Charlotte is a longtime reader and avid supporter of VTDigger. He is also a creative economy guru in the Champlain Valley, serving as adviser and director for many nonprofits and business startups including Champlain College and Generator, Burlingtonโ€™s incubator maker space for young creatives.

He invited us into Generator for a series of community conversations over the summer and fall. ย Michael says:

Generator, Burlingtonโ€™s thriving maker space off Pine Street, has been host to a series of early morning โ€œNews and Brewโ€ gatherings. ย Itโ€™s amazing how many people collect in our Learning Lab to hear the latest from the extraordinarily talented Digger crew, led by the estimable Anne Galloway. The coffee and pastries sweeten the deal but itโ€™s the roundtable conversation (the bringing us together) that keeps us coming back for more. Most of us at Generator start our day with the Digger digest that lands in our in-box. Thank you, thank you to the Digger team for keeping us informed and connected. Generator is very glad to count you among our friends.

Thanks to the generous response of more than 120 donors within the past 48 hours we were able to raise $11,501 and successfully met the “Friends of VTDigger Challenge.โ€ย  As we look to the end of the year we see the amount we need to raise steadily decreasing but we still have $142,289 left to go to by December 31st.

Help us to reach our goal before the end of the year!

We can do this work because of you โ€“ Vermonters of all stripes coming together to support the power of journalism at a time when readers need excellent local reporting that makes a difference in our state.

Please make a tax-deductible contribution to support our work.
