[I]n June, as the final presidential primary contests occurred, Bernie Sanders’ campaign spent more than $7.5 million in what amounted to his last push for momentum and delegates ahead of the Democratic National Convention, which occurred in late July.

Sanders’ June spending was relatively ineffective. Out of the nine nominating contests that month, Sanders won just two — Montana and North Dakota.

The vast majority of the Vermont senator’s June payments went to payroll and travel, though media work also gobbled up hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Old Towne Media, the secretive ad buying agency that has taken in more than $82 million from the campaign, brought in another $275,000 in June for ad buys. Revolution Messaging, another ad contractor for the campaign, got $450,000 for ad buys and digital consulting.

Other campaign expenditures this reporting period included more than $350,000 for private charter jets. Sanders spent more than $5 million total on jet expenses with Air Charter Team.

In total, Sanders has spent more than $222,000,000 on his primary bid, a number that will likely grow once his July financial report is filed with the Federal Election Commission later this month.

He ended June with more than $8,000,000 cash on hand, a significant figure that may be directed toward the three political organizations he and staffers are in the midst of developing.
