A 36-year-old Burlington man has been ordered held pending his trial on heroin charges.

A federal criminal complaint accuses Phillip Wilson of distributing heroin. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison if convicted, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney’s office.

The Vermont State Police Drug Task Force conducted a lengthy investigation into Wilson’s potential heroin distribution, according to U.S. Attorney Eric Miller. Wilson was arrested Wednesday, the same day that law enforcement searched his two residences in Burlington and Essex, according to the news release.

Law enforcement said they found three guns, 160 bags of what is possibly heroin and a large quantity of U.S. currency, according to The Burlington Free Press.

At a detention hearing Thursday, Wilson was ordered held pending trial.

His arraignment is set for Friday in U.S. District Court in Burlington.
