A federal judge sentenced a man to three years in prison Monday for dealing heroin in Vermont.
Jonathan Nisbett, 24, of Newark, New Jersey, pleaded guilty to charges that he regularly traveled to Vermont to sell heroin in 2015.
Nisbett was arrested in August as he was getting off a train in Essex Junction. Police found some 2,250 bags of heroin in his luggage, according to a news release from the office of the U.S. attorney of Vermont.
Nisbett faced a maximum of 20 years in prison, but his lawyer reached agreement with prosecutors and recommended a total sentence of 36 months behind bars. He will also have three years of supervised release after his sentence.
