Sens. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Cory Booker, D-N.J. will lead a panel discussion on criminal justice reform 2:30 p.m. today in Contois Auditorium, Burlington City Hall.
Leahy and Booker are part of a bipartisan movement on Capitol Hill to enact criminal justice reforms. Leahy is the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which has jurisdiction over justice reform legislation.
The panelists include: U.S. Attorney Eric Miller, Gov. Peter Shumlin, Mayor Miro Weinberger, Christine Longmore, Burlington Community Center and Burlington Police Commissioner, Chittenden County State’s Attorney T.J. Donovan, Emmet Helrich, Rapid Intervention Community Court, Kyle Dodson, Burlington YMCA and Vicky Smith, King Street Center.
After the discussion, Leahy and Booker will tour the King Street Center, 87 King Street.
