The House takes up the $2.8 million fee bill on the floor today.
The measure passed out of House Ways and Means last week in an 8-3 vote.
The bill increases fees for a wide array of services and professions. A partial listing of the affected parties include: teachers, speech pathologists, physicians assistants, radiologist assistants, physicians, podiatrists and anesthesiologist assistants.
The food industry will pay more in licensing fees under the bill. Restaurants, bakeries, shellfish reshippers and repackers, lodging facilities will be affected. The fees are to cover the cost of Health Department inspections.
Fees for Act 250 reviews will go up. A new fee will be established that charges 75 cents per $1,000 of the first $15 million of construction.
The Department of Environmental Conservation is raising fees for potable water and wastewater permits, air contaminant sources and solid waste haulers.
Clarification: An earlier version of this story indicated that renewal fees for real estate agents, appraisers and land surveyors were going up. They went down.
