The Vermont House will begin debating the bill on Wednesday; the House Appropriations Committee has already blocked off time in its weekly schedule to discuss possible amendments.

At your suggestion I read the CfC legislation.
It seems to me that the bill:
1. Makes the legislative committees “legislature and governor for the summer, fall, winter, and…”
2. Yields too much power to the governor.
3. Complicates, complicates and complicates everything.
4. Depends too much on websites and electronic everything. Will folks be able to get email or rss notification of governmental postings on all the agency websites?
5. It has so many complicated components, it will never save any money.

My real question for the legislature is, “Why not just pass a one or two cent sales tax increase, with a 3 year sunset, and be done with all this baloney?”
If you don’t like the 2 cent sales tax increase, then why not expand the current tax to services, as other states have done?
You can leave out the baloney part if you’d like.
