An unnamed Vermont Yankee employee has alleged there was an “unisolateable” radioactive steam leak in the underground Advanced Off-Gas drain pit at Vermont Yankee two years ago.
Arnie Gundersen, a nuclear expert and member of the Public Oversight Panel, received a call from the employee on Feb. 14, who stated that the only way to have repaired the leak would have been to shut down the nuclear power plant in Vernon. The employee told Gundersen that “Furmanite,” a sealant was used to “plug the hole.”
Gundersen submitted the information in an e-mail to the Public Service Board on Feb. 16.

wonder why that was concealed from the public.
It was withheld from the public because a condition of the sale docket 6545, states that before Entergy makes any changes on the property – they are legally obliged to contact the PSB to seek permission… Which they clearly did not do.
They were sanctioned years ago by the Public Service Board for not getting PSB approval before trucking fill off site as they began to build a temporary building… same issue… … here they have done it again…
Probably because it involved underground pipes which Entergy was maintaining did not exist!
