Before getting a heat pump, look how to reduce your energy needs. Insulation, air leakage, phantom power, insulated curtains.
Consult your power company for comparable houses that have heat pumps. Only then get bids.
If you have forced air, do a whole house system replacement. Mini-splits are pricey and not as efficient. Look at starting with solar panels. Good luck!
