Former Vermont gubernatorial candidate Christine Hallquist announced on Twitter Friday, April 10, that she had tested positive for Covid-19. Hallquist, who ran as a Democrat against Phil Scott in 2018, made headlines as the first openly transgender person to secure a major party nomination in a governor’s race.
Hallquist noted in her Twitter post that she seems to be on the mend, saying that Friday has been her first day without a fever in a week. She was tested last Sunday. Her announcement was met by a flurry of well wishes, including from Scott, who tweeted that he hoped Hallquist feels better soon.
