One of the things I’ve enjoyed most during my first few weeks at VTDigger is meeting readers. Because we live and work in the communities we serve, those conversations happen everywhere from the grocery store to the post office.
Recently, a couple stopped me to say, “We so appreciate all of your work to keep us informed. We don’t know what we’d do without VTDigger.” Another supporter told me they’d lost trust in much of the national media and now rely on VTDigger for accurate, independent reporting about Vermont.
Those conversations stay with me. They remind me that earning and keeping readers’ trust isn’t something we can take for granted. It’s something our newsroom constantly works to earn.

And we’re building on that work.
Later this summer, we’ll publish an ambitious reporting collaboration with FRONTLINE examining the lasting impacts of Vermont’s recent flooding. We’re preparing for statewide election coverage that readers will rely on through November. And we’ll continue investing in investigative reporting that helps Vermonters understand not just what happened, but why it matters.
Roughly half a million people rely on VTDigger’s news every month, but only a small percentage financially support this work. Every contribution helps us spend more time reporting, asking questions and holding institutions accountable.
