Marcia was born in Frederick, Maryland on August 15, 1945. She was the eldest of five children born to Celia (Swiger) and Grover Broadwater. Her siblings, William Broadwater, Deborah Lescalleet, Margaret Sayler (deceased) and Elizabeth (Betsy) Broadwater, all grew up in Woodsboro, Maryland.
Marcia graduated from Walkersville High School in 1963. Marcia married Robert E. Gary on January 29, 1966, during a blizzard. They had two daughters, M. Beth Gary, currently of Charlotte, Vermont and Amy (Gary) Sahr, currently of Mesa, Arizona. Marcia has two grandchildren, Molly Gary and Andrew Tillotson, of whom she was very proud.
Marcia worked for the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office for many years before she and her family relocated to Gainesville, Florida. There she worked for the Alachua County Jail, starting as a Corrections Officer and then transitioning to the Records Department, where she retired as the Records Bureau Chief in 2003.
In 2005, she relocated to Milton, Vermont. She enjoyed the seasons of Vermont. Then in 2021 she permanently relocated to Mesa, Arizona.
Marcia passed away in her sleep after a short illness on March 7, 2026 in Mesa. Marcia loved her family, animals, giving to charity, painting, arts and crafts and British murder mysteries.
