Dear reader,

A more informed Vermont is a smarter Vermont, and thereโ€™s no better time to start than at an early age. Thatโ€™s why VTDigger is partnering with the Childrenโ€™s Literacy Foundation (CLiF) this spring to send 3,000 brand-new books to kids across the state and raise awareness about the importance of early literacy for the next generation of news readers.

But time is running out and we need your help. Our spring member drive is a critical time for us to raise the funds needed to sustain our reporting through the fall. If you can, please consider a contribution to the spring drive and you’ll be supporting two worthy causes with one gift.

When you make a member donation at the level thatโ€™s right for you, youโ€™ll be powering our local journalism and CLiF will send one book on your behalf to a Vermont child. We’ve already sent 1,015 books, but we need more members to pitch in.

With the proliferation of misinformation in todayโ€™s world, itโ€™s crucial for children to develop strong literacy skills so they can become the well-informed news readers of the future.

Today, you can both foster childrenโ€™s literacy and support VTDiggerโ€™s nonprofit journalism during an important election year. Will you help us send 3,000 books to Vermont children by April 20?

Donate to VTDigger in any amount during our spring drive and we will send one book on your behalf.

Vermonters of all ages need trusted information to participate in a healthy civic society, and it all starts with learning to read. Thank you for being a VTDigger reader and valuing our reporting.

With gratitude,
