An earthquake rocked parts of the Northeast at approximately 10:23 a.m. Friday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey

The earthquake’s epicenter was in northern New Jersey and had a preliminary magnitude of 4.8. The shake was measured as far north in Vermont as Waterbury, where a seismic instrument recorded an intensity of 3.4, according to data from the National Earthquake Information Center.

Farther south in Chester, another instrument recorded an intensity of 3.6.
