I was heartened to learn from my Michigan relatives that some of the churches in their county have taken up collections for the people of Gaza.

They send their offerings through their respective churchesโ€™ global ministry or world relief programs. One church is also offering Sunday study sessions to better understand the situation in Israel/Palestine. Could Vermont faith communities do something similar?

Middle East Childrenโ€™s Alliance welcomes donations and has workers on the ground in Gaza. Excellent resources for both action and education are available from Jewish Voice for Peace and our own Vermonters for Justice in Palestine. As a member of one Michigan churchโ€™s missionary committee said: We just want to help the people that are in need of help.
