Police say they are investigating the suspicious death of a man who was apparently shot in Wheelock.
Vermont State Police said the probe is in its earliest stages. Few details were available Monday morning, though police said that they received an emergency call around 6 a.m. from a woman reporting that a man had been shot at a property on Route 16 in Wheelock.
Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene, according to police.
The man’s body would be taken to the Vermont Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, police said. His identification is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Police also said that the initial investigation indicates “this was an isolated incident.” No one is in custody and the investigation is continuing, police said.
