A juvenile allegedly killed a 48-year-old woman Friday night in Waltham, according to Vermont State Police.
In a press release Saturday, police identified the victim as Michelle Kilbreth of McKnight Lane but did not identify the juvenile because of his age. State police are continuing to investigate.
The state Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington said Saturday that the cause of death was gunshot wounds to the torso and the manner a homicide.
State police said Kilbreth got into a fight with another woman in the neighborhood Friday night. Kilbreth, who had a handgun, lost possession of it during the fight, according to police. A juvenile picked up the gun and fired it, striking Kilbreth several times, police said.
No charges were immediately filed.
