With Gunners Brook continuing to rise, the Good Samaritan Haven was preparing to evacuate its Seminary Street shelter in Barre on Monday afternoon.

Rick DeAngelis, Good Sam’s co-executive director, said the shelter would send about a dozen people to the Barre Auditorium, where the Red Cross at 3 p.m. opened an emergency shelter for people displaced by the storm.

Good Sam and Another Way, another local service provider, are now directing all unsheltered people in the area to go to the Red Cross space at 16 Auditorium Hill in Barre. Ken Russell, Another Way’s executive director, reported around 4 p.m. that some half-dozen individuals were at the nonprofit’s drop-in center waiting for a ride.

โ€œIt’s been a lot of chaos today, frankly,โ€ Russell said.
