After further investigation into a fatal ATV crash that happened in Sheffield on Thursday night, Vermont State Police have arrested one man and are seeking two others.
The ATV crash occurred on Sept. 22 on Blake Pond Road where 19-year-old Samantha Henderson was declared dead after life-saving attempts were made. She was not wearing a seatbelt or a helmet, according to a press release.
The ATV involved in the crash was determined to be stolen from Roadside Motorsports in Williston, along with another ATV.
Police found that Philip DeGreenia Jr. and Christopher DeGreenia were in the possession of the second stolen ATV, which was located near the crash. Police are still searching for Sheffield resident Christopher DeGreenia, 33, who also has an active arrest warrant for an unrelated charge of eluding, according to police.
Philip DeGreenia Jr., 55, was placed under arrest and transported to St. Johnsbury State Police Barracks for processing on Monday. He was charged with possession of stolen property and providing false information to law enforcement due to statements made during the investigation into the stolen ATVs and the fatal crash. He was released on citation and is to appear in court on Oct. 10 in Caledonia County.
David “Cane” Launderbach, 38, is also believed to have been involved in the crash and the theft of the ATVs.
The crash remains under investigation with Vermont State Police requesting public assistance in locating Lauderbach and Christopher DeGreenia.
