Vermont’s Department of Health reported 121 Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, fewer than the seven-day average of 209 that was driven upward by record totals last week.

The department also continues to revise its previous daily data as it contends with testing delays. It changed the total for Tuesday from 129 cases to 172 cases, according to the raw data from the department.

Despite the delayed data, daily case counts appear to be declining from a record-level total of 330 cases on Sept. 16. However, Covid data has been tending to vary depending on the day of the week, so it’s hard to say for certain if the lower numbers are part of a longer trend.

Forty-two people were in the hospital with the virus on Wednesday, a decline from 48 yesterday. Fourteen people with the disease were in intensive care units. (The Department of Health revised its hospitalization data on Wednesday afternoon following the publication of this story.)

Vermont reported no new deaths. In total, 301 people have died since the beginning of the pandemic.
