Continuing a recent pattern of after-the-fact data updates, Vermont revised its Covid-19 case count for Wednesday from 105 cases to 150 cases.
It also reported 101 cases for Thursday, but that number may be updated in the days ahead, as state labs and analysts struggle with increased testing. Officials said at a press conference Wednesday that they are planning to hire more staff and switch software to improve the timeliness of Vermont’s data.
With the latest data taken into account, the seven-day average case count is 139. That’s a drop from a high of 165 on Sept. 3, but officials cautioned at the press conference that Labor Day weekend may cause a lag in people getting tested and results coming back.
One new death was added to the data for Thursday. In total, 283 people have died since the beginning of the pandemic.
Thirty people are currently hospitalized with the virus, including seven in the ICU.
