VTDigger has been selected from a competitive pool of hundreds of newsrooms across the country to host a new Report for America corps member in Northwestern Vermont and extend our Southern Vermont reporter position.

Weโ€™ve long wanted to bring more coverage to these regions and invest in the next generation of emerging journalists. Ourย Report for America program does both. Will youย help us launch and sustainย these regional reporting positions today?

For the first time, VTDigger is assigning a full-time regionalย reporter to cover Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. Journalistย Shaun Robinsonย is filling the position as our second Report for America corps member, and Emma Cotton, our Southern Vermont reporter, has renewed for another corps year with VTDigger.

VTDigger needs toย raise at least $25,000ย for Emma and Shaunโ€™s salaries from the community as a requirement of participation.

This approach creates a shared investment in local journalism, for the community, by the community. Pairing emerging journalists with supportive host newsrooms, like VTDigger, helps equip them with the skills they need to thrive in journalism. In return, Report for America corps members produce high-quality public service journalism for the communities they are assigned to.

Over the next week and half, VTDigger needs to raise $25,000 for our Report for America programs in Northwestern and Southern Vermont.ย Can you help us make more regional coverage a reality?

VTDigger is committed to deepening coverage across Vermont so that communities are equipped to participate in the democratic process and have all the news they need as Vermont navigates recovery from Covid-19.
