Editor’s note: Profiles in Resilience is an invitational series from the Underground Workshop, VTDigger’s platform for student journalism. We are seeking stories from our school communities about the ways Vermont’s students, teachers and staff have adapted, innovated or simply endured through the challenges of the past year. Read more about this opportunity here. To submit work, or for more information, please email Ben Heintz, the Workshopโs editor, atย ben@vtdigger.org.

This profile in resilience comes from Madysen Harrington, a senior at Blue Mountain Union School in Wells River. It was originally published earlier this school year on Blue Mountain’s platform for student media, Bucks News Network.
Blue Mountain teacher Kimberly French has to be extra careful at school because both she and her husband are at high risk for Covid-19. In the video news segment below French details the many adaptations the school made to her classroom, allowing her to continue teaching in person through the pandemic.
