The Vermont National Guard will begin administering vaccines Wednesday through March 13, offering a boost to the state’s vaccination efforts and adding another option for residents, in addition to other vaccine clinics offered around the state.
The first round of vaccinations will run through March 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in South Burlington. The Guard, through the Task Force Coyote unit, can deliver up to 400 vaccine doses per day.
Other Guard vaccination programs are planned March 9 and March 10 at the Barre Auditorium, March 10 and March 11 in White River Junction, and March 13 in Springfield.
Eligible Vermonters can sign up through the portal on the Vermont Department of Health website.
“We understand how important deployment of the vaccine is at this stage of the game. … We are eager to get out there and continue supporting the fight against this virus in our communities,” said Col. Randall Gates, director of military support for the Vermont Army National Guard.
Task Force Coyote has been involved in a number of Covid-related services, including building test kits and doing contact tracing. Now, more than 50 Guard members will help to administer vaccines.
