Gov. Phil Scott and his commissioner of health, Dr. Mark Levine, ended weeklong quarantines Tuesday after testing negative for Covid-19, according to Scott press secretary Jason Maulucci.
The two were among a group of administration officials potentially exposed to the coronavirus during press briefings on Jan. 15 and Jan. 19. Both tested negative on Jan. 20 and again on Jan. 26. Nobody present for the two press briefings has tested positive, Maulucci said in a statement late Tuesday.
Scott quarantined in his Montpelier office, which includes a small apartment. He delivered his annual budget address earlier Tuesday from a nearby conference room.
“I want to thank Vermonters for their expressions of support over the past week as members of my team and I quarantined, in accordance with Vermont Health Department guidelines,” Scott said in a written statement. “We look forward to updating Vermonters at tomorrow’s briefing on our ongoing response to the pandemic and the important vaccine rollout.”
