All passengers riding on Green Mountain Transit vehicles will be required to wear a cloth face covering starting on Saturday, May 2. This requirement, as mandated by the governor’s executive order, will be in effect until further notice. GMT will also continue to operate fare free bus service until further notice.
GMT is limiting the number of passengers on board buses to allow for social distancing. On 30-foot buses they will allow 12 passengers, on 35-foot buses they will allow 14 passengers and on 40-foot buses they will allow 18 passengers.
Transit operators may ask passengers to board and alight through the rear door of the bus.
Certain GMT facilities will remain closed including the Downtown Transit Center lobby in Burlington and the Montpelier Transit Center, although buses will continue to serve the platform at each location. GMT’s main administrative buildings in Burlington, Berlin, and St. Albans will also be closed.
All route closures can be found on their website.
