VTDigger’s live public forum on changing Vermontโ€™s prison culture kicks off on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 6 p.m. If you can’t make it to the Dudley H. Davis Center at UVM, watch our livestream using the video player above.

Keynote speaker Janos Marton is a nationally recognized advocate for criminal justice reform. He is a candidate for Manhattan District Attorney and was manager of state campaigns for the ACLUโ€™s national Smart Justice initiative. Prior to the ACLU and the close Rikers campaign, Marton served as Special Counsel to the Moreland Commission to Investigate Public Corruption in New York.

Following Marton’s keynote address, the event will feature a panel discussion moderated by VTDiggerโ€™s Anne Galloway and Alan Keays.

The panelists include Ashley MessierJim Baker, Kathy Fox and Sarah George.

Senator Dick Sears and Representative Selene Colburn will close the evening with a short legislative update on criminal justice reform legislation that will be debated in the 2020 session.
