[I]nvestigators are suspicious about the origin of a house fire in Concord last week.
The Concord Fire Department responded to the blaze on Sawmill Road in the Essex County town at about 6:15 p.m. last Thursday, according to a Vermont State Police news release. Firefighters found the residence engulfed in flames.
Ceylon and Vicki Morehouse, both 57, owned the home, state police said. No one was injured in the incident, and the residence is considered a total loss.
The house had been unoccupied for more than a decade, Ceylon Morehouse told investigators, but a family member saw smoke was coming from the building, and Morehouse checked and found heavy fire on the second floor.
State police investigators, assisting the local fire department, said they found no obvious ignition sources in the area. The origin of the fire remains under investigation and is considered suspicious.
