We hope you enjoy VTDigger. We offer our online news service at no cost to you because we believe it is vitally important to ensure everyone has access to the news.
But delivering in-depth news to you day in, day out, is not free. It is a resource intensive enterprise. We employ 20 part-time and full-time journalists who scour the state for news you need. Our reporters and editors dedicate long hours to gathering string, fact-checking sources, demanding public records and combing through documents.
We do this work because we believe in the power of news to bring people together. As one member wrote this week, an informed community is an engaged community.
We need your help to make our Spring Drive successful. We need to raise $163,000 by May 31.
Remember the old adage, many hands make light work? If each of the 70,000 readers who rely on us each week for our in-depth coverage gave $10, we could stop fund drives for the rest of the year.
The sad reality is, though, only about 1 percent of readers give.
