Sen. Bernie Sanders is pledging to release his tax returns in the next week. Sanders has been facing rising pressure from national media and fellow 2020 presidential candidates to share his returns. On Tuesday, he told the New York Times he’d be releasing ten years of tax documents by April 15th.
Climate marchers rally at Statehouse after 5-day journey
Environmental activists completed a five-day march from Middlebury to Montpelier yesterday. The group, organized by 350 Vermont, wants lawmakers to pass bills this session that would ban new fossil fuel infrastructure in Vermont โ bills that so far have had a slim chance of advancing.
House fuel tax hike faces uphill battle in Senate
A tax hike on heating fuel that passed a contentious House vote last month has an uphill battle ahead. Both the governor and Senate leader have said the tax is too regressive, placing a burden on the people it’s meant to help. If passed, the increase would generate $4.6 million in funding for low-income Vermonters to weatherize their homes.
