Singer songwriter and activist Cyndi Lauper is giving the commencement address at Northern State University – Johnson on May 18.

[P]op culture icon and singer songwriter Cyndi Lauper will give the commencement speech at Northern Vermont University – Johnson on May 18.

Lauper is best known for the songs “Time after Time,” “True Colors” and “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

Less well known is the fact that Lauper attended Johnson State College in 1973 and 1974. At the commencement in May, she will receive a Doctor of Letters Honorary Degree.

Lauper is a longtime AIDs activist. Her foundation, “True Colors United,” works to end homelessness for LGBTQ young people.
The Northern Vermont University – Johnson graduation ceremony is a ticketed event. The event will be livestreamed.
