This week on the Minute:

Burlington voters cast their ballots in four competitive city council elections. Progressives won big this year, with Perri Freeman and Jack Hanson unseating two longtime incumbents. Those wins give Progressives more leverage in pushing back on Democratic Mayor Miro Weinberger.

Elsewhere in Chittenden County, Winooski voters elected Kristine Lott as their new mayor and approved plans for a new parking garage.

South Burlington voters approved a new rental car tax, but voted down a proposal to increase the cityโ€™s local option tax.

Plastic bag bans were on the ballot in Manchester, Middlebury and Burlington – voters in those cities all voted in support of single-use plastic bans, an idea thatโ€™s also gaining steam in the Statehouse.

Incumbents scored a clean sweep in Rutland City, where Mayor David Allaire was re-elected for a two-year seat.
