Federal agency terminates scandal-plagued Vermont EB-5 Regional Center
The federal government has officially terminated the Vermont EB-5 Regional Center in response to state officials allowing a fraud scheme to go on unabated. The immediate shutdown affects EB-5 projects that are still underway, and affects foreign investors who have not yet received green cards.
Hospital says strike won’t disrupt most services
Nurses at UVM Medical Center are on strike after a dispute with hospital administrators over staffing and salary. The nurses have planned a two-day strike if they don’t reach an agreement by Thursday morning. Hospital leaders plan to staff 600 replacement nurses so that most medical services wouldn’t be interrupted.
State’s legal team urges judge to throw out gun magazine limit lawsuit
The new state law that set limits on gun magazine capacity was challenged in a lawsuit earlier this year. Now, the state’s legal team is asking a judge to dismiss that suit, saying that selling or owning large-capacity magazines is not a constitutionally protected right.
