[S]TOWE — Police have identified the two people killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon as a couple from New Britain, Connecticut.
Eugeniusz Adamczyk, 72, was driving a 2005 Honda sedan accompanied by his wife, Alfreda, 67, when it collided shortly after noon with a logging truck at the intersection of Route 100 and Randolph Road, Stowe Police said.
Both were pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the Western Star truck with a tandem trailer carrying logs, Arnold Withers, 72, of Danville, was not injured.
Police said the sedan had pulled out from Randolph Road when it collided with the truck, which was heading north on Route 100. As a result of the crash, Route 100 from Stagecoach Road in Stowe to Golf Course Road in Morrisville was closed for several hours.
Stowe Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services all responded to the scene. The state Department of Motor Vehicles and Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction Team also were at the site of the crash.
