Christine Hallquist: ‘It is up to us to keep VTDigger and our democracy healthy!’

Here at VTDigger, we strive to produce the best news in Vermont. Over the next few weeks, we will bring you the voices of our supporters – the VTDigger champions who help make our news possible.

As CEO of Vermont Electric Cooperative and one of Vermont’s pre-eminent progressive business leaders, Christine Hallquist is often a source for our reporters. She not only contributes her insight and knowledge so that readers can gain a better understanding of Vermont’s energy industry, she also makes a monthly financial contribution to VTDigger, and has done so for the last five years. We are proud that Christine is a Digger Champion.

I always thank a VTDigger reporter for doing their job so well when I get their call. Well-informed Vermonters are key to our healthy democracy and VTDigger is the gold standard for information and in-depth reporting. With all the questionable news stories that come to us every day over our social media feeds, it is nice that we have this trusted resource. It may not always be the news you want to hear, but it is the news that you need to hear. It is up to us to keep VTDigger and our democracy healthy! — Christine Hallquist

Thanks to the generous contributions from our readers, we have raised $80,000 toward our end-of-year goal so far. But we still have $270,000 to raise to meet our budget.

Help us to reach our goal before the end of the year! We can do this work because of you – Vermonters of all stripes coming together to support the power of journalism at a time when readers need excellent local reporting that makes a difference in our state.

Please make a tax-deductible contribution to support our work.
